BUSY YEAR AHEAD FOR CORCA DHUIBHNE AG CAINT
Bernie Ni Mhuircheartaigh and the team at Corca Dhuibhne ag Caint are busy planning for the year ahead with a number of initiatives in the pipeline aimed at promoting the use of Irish in everyday business on the Dingle Peninsula. “From January until at least March we’re directing our energies towards those who speak the language and who seek a service through Irish,” said Bernie. “We are currently designing a brochure to raise people’s awareness on their choice of language and the decision making that goes into that choice, included also will be information on services and language support facilities available.” According to Bernie, plans are also underway to lead a language awareness campaign, supporting children to use the language in their local shops. From March onwards they will create a package geared towards cultural tourism, involving a language trail connecting various aspects of cultural life in Corca Dhuibhne such as walks, music, history, food and archaeology.
